Reasons to buy an Apple iPad

Wise men may say, never buy a 1st generation Apple product. But let me tell you why i bought an Apple Ipad.

The 1st generation iPhone in 2007 is expensive, buggy with no apps store. But hey, iPad is not really a 1st generation. iPod is actually iPad’s father. The apple iPad is a step forward into the future. Lightweight and easy to use, it is suitable for people who needs to stay connected to the web. I call it the mobile lifestyle. Either for work or my passions, I need to constantly have access to the web. Can’t I use a smart phone? Smart phones are just too small for what I need to do online.

I have a busy schedule and constantly need to be on the move. Thank god(Steve job) for iPad, my life just got better.

1. Up to date with the latest in news, travel and social media
   My work and passions are related to online media. As we live in an information overload age, iPad is my hero!
   Web surfing on the latest in news, view charts of the stock market, social network via facebook, twitter and reading the millions of blog post via my RSS reader. Woo!
2. Blogging on the go
   Blogging via a smartphone or on iPad? No brainer. iPad’s big screen! But having some issues updating my wordpress using safari and still looking for a photoshop editor that can be install on iPad.
3. Read ebooks
   iBooks is Apple’s answer to Amazon Kindle. I can purchase ebooks and read anywhere anytime. But Amazon Kindle has more books available currently and yes, you can use the Kindle reader for iPad
4. Learn a new language
   There are many cool apps in the apps store that teaches you how to read and speak a new language. In one month, I can speak French!
5. Entertainment
   Youtube and movies on a proper screen rather than on a tiny smartphone. During my transit time in the airport, I can watch my favourite movies. On the plane, I can easily switch on my iPad to be entertain for 10 hours!
6. Digital photo frame
   I always wanted to buy a digital photo frame and when is time to retire this version of iPad, I have one to be place in my living room
   
7. Less visit to massage
   Carrying a laptop around, up the stairs, climbing mountains is no joke to my aching shoulders. Now I can leave my macbook at home and travel around with my iPad
8. Look cool with iPad
   Where ever I go with my iPad, i see people going gaga when i use my iPad. This may be the closest i may get to become a star.

However, i identify 2 limitations which will likely be improve by Apple soon.

1. Multitasking
   The big question is not whether we will have mutli-task function in iPad. Rather, when are we going to get this for iPad??!!!!
2. No network LAN port
   iPad comes with 3G as well as wifi. Why do I need a LAN port? In some countries, data plans using 3G can be expensive. As you may experience, wifi in hotels can be poor depending on the room you stay. So hopefully a USB LAN will be available for iPad soon.

Next year, there will be a better iPad in terms of price and functions. Let’s wait and see that Google will launch an android device similar to iPad as well. By then, I should have save up enough cash to further improve my mobile lifestyle with yet another great gadget.
