Mauritius is a volcanic island that first rose above the waves eight million years ago. Mauritius is famous for the Dodo bird (an extinct flightless bird around the size of a swan) as well as beautiful beaches and resorts. Maruitus is atropical island situated in the Inidan Ocean of the East cost of Africa. The lsland is almost completely surrounded by coral reef.


Port Louis is the capital city of Mauritius It's known for its French colonial architecture. In the captial, the Caudan Waterfront is a lively dining and shopping precinct. Vendors sell local produce and handicrafts at the huge central market near the waterfront.


There are about 1.2 million people of mostly African, Chinese and Indian origins.

  • Summer from October to April (warm and humid)
